Title: Disson Skating Shows
Post by: Isk8NYC on July 29, 2011, 09:28:43 AM
Disson Skating has their event schedules up for the 2011-2012 season.  The first show is in September, the last in January.  All their shows will be recorded at the live events and then shown later on NBC.  There's some called "Ovation Network Rebroadcasts" scheduled as well - I think Ovation is a cable/satellite channel.

I've only been to one Disson show and I learned that they do "retakes" after the show for any elements the skaters really flubbed.  They encourage the crowd to stay, watch and cheer on the skaters, but it's really being staged for the TV audience.  They remove the "oops" and put in the after-show corrections.

This is one move that may not get cut from the TV footage because it was so outstanding:

Livestream of the practice session from Greensville, SC for the Improv-Ice show tonight.
(If it's Improv, I guess they don't practice the routines in advance?)
