Figure Skating Trivia

In the 1920s you could buy what we would consider 'rec skates', boots + blades for $19. Today that $19 would be about $250-300 in purchasing power.

I checked out Jackson and today you can buy a leather boot with blade (Classique) for about $129. I don't count the Mystique because it's a plastic boot, which did not exist in the 20s.

So, just a little skating trivia.

My Jackson Softecs were ~$80 when I purchased them in March.  My Jackson Freestyles were $269 when I bought them in August.

The classique is no less "plastic" than the mystique... it shares the same PVC sole.  The Elle is the lowest level they sell in an all leather boot and retail on those is about $220 (many online merchants have them for a little less).

Good point! So close to the same price!
