boot/blade buying advice

Current skates:  Jackson Freestyle pretty broken down + nonstandard Aspire blade, 2 1/4 years old
Level:  Jumps through flip, passed bronze MITF, weak spins
Weight: ~175 lbs

I don't compete, but I do MITF, dance, and pairs.

Any suggestions?  I'm probably getting a fitting at Rainbo on Monday.  SuperTeris and Ultima Legacy seem appealing, but I don't know too much about them.

I think that could be a good combo.  The premiere may also be an option if you're otherwise happy with your Jacksons and I know those run quite a bit less $$ than the super teri.  Having skated in both not that long ago around the same time I can say that they're pretty equivalent in terms of stiffness.

So you are looking for split-width to avoid heel slipping? Anything else with Jackson as a brand? (so people may have more idea what to recommend?)

my dd has learned her axel on a very low level blade. She is starting doubles and i was wondering which blade would be best. We are keeping her boots. I have heard Coronation Aces or MK professional, what are everyones thoughts???
Nicklaszlo I hear you are the man to see about mounting blades, are you working the weekend of qualifying rounds??

Those are good ones.

Ultima's are becoming more popular.  Most of our rink is in Ultima Legacy or Freestyle, most in Matrix.

I tell you the standard "go with what your coach wants", but I'll say the mk's were great for dd.  She is going to the freestyle next.  It has a different rocker but it's what the coaches like for preliminary- juv here.

Did you go with a split width? It's often recommended on this forum to resolve the heel slippage issue which seems particularly common in Jacksons, but I don't recall anyone saying they've actually tried it. Maybe because they end up switching brands. I'm just curious to know, if you went with split width this time, how it works out.

I did not go with split widths, though the skates are a size smaller.  Supposedly the heel on these will work better because it is so stiff.

Yes, Jody Diehl would be a much better choice for getting your blade mounted.  He is a professional skate technician.  In real life it would be hard to confuse Jody with anybody because he is tall enough to do some really awesome lifts.

How did you end up with a size too big with the previous pair?
The exact same thing happened to me, but I think I told them the wrong size :blush:
